He rocked my world too much for that. At the time I thought I was making the transition to motherhood pretty well, but looking back and comparing my progress to that of my sisters’ when their second or even fourth children arrived, [...] I got it in my head a while ago that I really wanted to try re-upholstering. I was interested to see if it was as difficult as I thought it would be, and also I just have not been thrilled with the upholstered furniture out there that’s available in my price range. Valiant turned 1 year while we were out of the country which we over-celebrated, according to Tim, by buying him a light-up bouncy ball from a street vendor. You can only imagine what he thought when I proposed an actual party with a cake and everything. I don’t think he’s opposed to people having birthdays, [...] Like I said- what could be easier than a box cake? I use a white cake mix (and I usually leave out egg yolks so that it stays whiter). You may have your own tricks but I cut out a round of parchment paper to go in the base of the cake pan because it ruins [...] As a follow up to the Istanbul and Overd-dyed Rug post, here are the ones I chose. (Not an easy decision!) These are the over-dyed rugs I went with. Although I loved the citrine green I needed to keep the collection a little cohesive (thus all the pink) because we are constantly moving, the rugs need to [...] Remember when I said I was going to do a post on Istanbul and the lovely Turkish rugs forever ago? (I’m [...] One of the days in Rome we decided to rent a car and drive out to some of the hill towns. Orvieto and Cortona were a couple of places recommended to us and well worth the trip! So that’s the end of Italy but before I move onto Turkey I want to leave you with a [...] Surprisingly I didn’t do much browsing or even window shopping in Rome. There’s so much history there and Tim had never been, so we actually spent a lot of time doing normal touristy things. This post is therefore mostly pictures of our time– hope it’s not too boring! The B&B we stayed had an agreement with [...] I mentioned in an earlier post that we had been planning on taking a trip to Rome and Istanbul and after postponing it three times, we finally went! In total we were gone just under two weeks. Rome was wonderful with fantastic weather and lots to experience since Tim had never been to Italy. We put our house on the market, it escalated significantly above asking price and went under contract in 7days.
