Have you read the children’s books, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, or, If You Give a Moose a Muffin? The story starts with a simple little cookie given to a mouse, but as soon as that mouse gets a cookie he’s going to want a glass of milk to go with it, and chances are if you give him the glass of milk, he’s going to want a mirror to make sure he doesn’t have a milkstache, and after that he will notice that his whiskers need a little trim and he’s going to ask for scissors…
Well, if you give Andrew, Jarrett and Matthias a gun, they are probably going to want another gun to keep it company. And chances are they will want a membership in a gun club to go with them.
After that they will notice all the empty rounds they’ve spent and they are going to want some reloading equipment to go with it. And if they get the re-loader, they will realize they need a caliper to measure to the thousandth inch for perfect calibration.
After that they will look around and notice they have no bench for their reloading equipment so they will ask for a bench and then they will look around and notice that they have nowhere to sit so they will need some stools. They will go to the kitchen and take the stools so they can sit and reload.
The trouble is the mom of the house will miss her stools and when she goes looking for them she will find them in the basement and ask that they be brought back to her kitchen.
But sooner or later those three men will steal the stools again…
I am in the market for new kitchen stools.

In a way it's only fair, that they use my kitchen stools because I bought them in the automotive department
So, I have decided I need new ones in the kitchen and they can keep my others. I still love industrial. Looking around I have narrowed it down to a few:

These are probably a little too modern for my kitchen but they are the perfect combo of back/backless

I am kinda leaning towards a backless style again so it can completely tuck under the counter when not needed.
So….. should I stick with industrial? I really love it.

My son has the ultra modern ones – they are ergonomic and surprisingly comfortable. Try sitting in them before you buy – just sayin’…
I love the one with the wood seat. Dont forget about these ones with the tractor seats– also pretty industrial.
True, Charlotte! I once bought some saddle style stools and they were the worst thing in the world to sit in; even just sitting straight forward they would kinda cut off circulation to my thighs.
This would be COMFY! I think I like the look: http://www.homedecorators.com/P/James_Counter_Stool/250/?aid=cj/
I love the “yardstick” top on these: http://www.ballarddesigns.com/yardstick-barstool/218902
I can tell you what NOT to buy……there is a certain Aluminum chair out there….in fact in the link Caitlin send for Home Decorators (I like those by the way)….this particular one was off to the side. I tried those from Crate & Barrel….they were like scratching a chalkboard…you could not even slide on to them….they went back. I love the yardstick ones from Ballard.
Shari, the saddle thigh pinching ones I bought went back too. I tried and tried to live with them but every time I walked by them in my kitchen, I felt duped by their wickery saddle-ness so they had to go back.
not sure about which stool but can relate to the gun process….Jonathan has just started it, I’ll have to warn Chelsea of what’s to come :)
My vote would be for the yardstick stools also. I think it gives you the industrial look you like but the wood warms it up alittle.
Honestly, Wendy, you need to warn Chelsea of this hobby that slowly takes over rooms, furniture, and time!
Melinda, I am such a sucker for things with decor featuring letters or numbers. I am afraid it is more of that industrial thing.
Terri, it did occur to me that with the measurements on the seat you may have people asking ” does this stool make my butt look big?”, I’m just saying…
Ha! Everyone would casually walk behind whoever is sitting and perchance glance down and note the dimensions.
I loved the creativity of your story, Terri. Only you, could move from “If you give a Mouse a Cookie”, to “If you give a Man a Gun”. BRILLIANT! Loved it!!
I have no comments about men and guns because I thought, that was just the way life was supposed to be. That was my “normal” growing up and up to the present. I do clearly remember fearing that my dad might get attacked by a bear on his hunting trips and at one point even asked my mother who she would marry if daddy died while away hunting.
