Thank you to everyone who has been praying for Taite.  We continue to need wisdom as we figure out our next few weeks.

Taite has been having a lot of difficulty eating and drinking anything.  Even her spit was not going down.  For a 5′ 5″ girl her weight has dropped to a scary 80 pounds.  We finally took her in for some tests and then were sent to a Children’s hospital where she underwent some more tests, some under sedation and some fully awake. Taite has been a very brave young lady.   Bravery makes a parent cry.  We have been on a roller coaster of hopeful highs to despairing lows.  We are now in waiting pattern for a call from the doctor with some results and probably a referral to a surgeon.

For right now we are thrilled to all be back at home.  Hotels are only nice if you’re on vacation.  And we had thought our trip would be a quick 24 hours so we were running low on clean underwear and socks.

It was really terrific to go to Matthias’s basketball game today, and even better that they won and are still undefeated after their fourth game!  He had a cheering crowd of three sisters, one brother, two brother-in-laws, six nieces and nephews, and a set of parents.  I think that’s why they won the game.

Oh Terri…..I’m so sorry to hear about Taite….but happy you made us aware. She goes on my prayer list as of now…..and I’m praying for a conclusive dx….the unknown often makes it even more unsettling.

Hi Terri & girls, I really enjoy reading your blog from time to time. I’m from Lancaster County and am friends with the Barleys and have gotten to know Erin a little over the past few years. I normally don’t comment much on blogs but wanted to today so you would know I am praying for your daughter, that the doctors can find a diagnosis and she can make a full recovery. I hope to meet you sometime when you’re in Lancaster!

    Take good care,

Prayers galore from this neck of the woods. I was inundated today at church for updates. And she went on another prayer group’s list today – that makes 6 now.

We think the tests that were done on her esophagus have caused it to open for a while so she is eating like a maniac! Well… 1/4 cup of a smoothie for breakfast, but then lunch! Wow, she ate a ton.

  7. Dear Terri,

Thank you so much for sharing this so we know how to pray…And we are doing so fervently. I am wondering what non believers do when these hard providences come? I say this because I take comfort (and I know you do) realizing there are so many in our different churches who have joined as prayer warriors with you. It is amazing how many are praying. We love you and ask God’s complete healing and restored health to sweet Taite.

The photo is angelic and lacks only a muted halo surrounding her precious head. You remain in our thoughts and prayers. These are trying days for all, we know some of what you are going through. But, in all our situations, we run with deliberate intention to our Lord, who daily bears our burdens. A psalm of David-68:19

Hi Terri – I’m so glad to be reconnected to you, esp with what you’re going through. She’s beautiful – reminds me of you when we were growing up. Sending love and prayers from Cambridge…
