The Christmas decorations are down and I could almost cry because the house seems so empty. I love seasonal decorations, especially in the winter.
I don’t know if you have ever seen milk glass in the antique stores. Vases, cups, plates and all of it for a dime a dozen. If you should come across some vases, buy them and fill your fireplace mantle with them. You won’t regret it. Put little votives in them and you will have the most lovely wintry mantle ever.

How I’ve often longed for a mantle!
Knowing the tendencies of this family, tho, it would be just another flat surface for junk to land on.
It’s better that I enjoy yours. :D
I have to admit this is the tendency of my surfaces as the well, the kitcken in particular. But I figure that if I fill the surface before anyone else, it is less likely to get filled with junk. I have some amount of success. Presently, though, I have a comic book and a pair of sunglasses on the mantle. :)
I’d need to get into the habit of post Christmas decorating, otherwise the house looks so unwelcoming when the tree and lights come down. The problem is, all my decorative juices have been used up by then. Yours on the other hand never cease!
I love this idea Meghan!
actually the last comment was from me…that’s what I get for using her computer and not checking all of the boxes :)
This is a great idea! My mantel is empty now since I put the Christmas garland away. I am going to hit the antique store asap.
