For the long weekend in September Tim and I decided on a whim to go down to Ocracoke, North Carolina. We left at 2am to avoid traffic and by the time we arrived at the ferry 7 1/2 hours later, I was falling asleep and very glad I wasn’t driving. We spent three days camping, fishing, riding our bikes all over it, eating seafood, laying on the beach, and spending a good deal of time at our favorite little coffee shop on the island. It rained the night before we left and our tent and bedding was pretty soaked, but other than that the trip went off without a hitch. I read “Cheaper by the Dozen” out-loud to pass the time on the ride home since Tim has never read it. It was a wonderful get-away.

Erin and Tim how lucky you were to be at Ocracoke. It is one of Bill’s and my most favorite places. We go every summer for 2 weeks and it is still not long enough. Seeing the coffee shop made me long for a milky way. By the way I love this website, and am enjoying getting to know the rest of yours and Caitlin’s family. Enjoyed the picture’s of Anna’s wedding since we could not be there. Hope all is well with you both and tell Tim we said Hi! Love Melindaz
Erin…..loved the pictures of Ocracoke…..one of Parker’s and my favorite spots…..we’ve spent many hours discussing life in general with family and friends while sitting out under the pine trees at Ocracoke Coffee…..What joy!!!!

Ocracoke… sounds like some kind of soda. I remember going to North Carolina with my dad and grandparents to see property they owned and falling in love with the Cheerwine cherry flavored soda and bringing it back to Massachusetts as a novelty drink.
